With Stephen Hawking having passed away last month, it is time to remember his remarkable contributions to physics. We will start from his Ph.D. thesis, pass through his breakthrough about black hole radiation, and finish with the set of his more speculative, recent work. Throughout the talk, we will comment some of the history behind these discoveries, emphasizing how he had to change his mindset and work with different people over the course of his career.
