Since September 2012, Green College has partnered with UBC TREK to support Green College residents in volunteering at Lord Strathcona Elementary School. Lord Strathcona is located in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown, and is the oldest elementary school in Vancouver.
GREEN COLLEGE FACILITIES:

THE COMMON KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY

THE COMMON KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY

Green College’s Common Kitchen is a facility shared by all residents to prepare their meals outside of meal plan hours. It is also where the laundry room is located.

The Common Kitchen is a beautiful building with high ceilings and windows, in the centre of the College. It is a gathering place for residents to have a chat over lunch, coffee or a snack when the meal plan is unavailable.

Because the kitchen is a shared resource, a resident Common Kitchen Committee looks after equitable division of labour among all residents to keep the kitchen clean and tidy – an example of the College’s community spirit in action. This committee also collects money to help keep the kitchen stocked with basic, shared foodstuffs.

The laundry room is located at the back of the Common Kitchen with Coinamatic card-operated frontload washers and dryers, plus ironing board and iron, for all residents to use.

The laundry room is also the storage location of cleaning equipment that can be signed out for use in resident rooms: vacuum cleaners, wet mops and buckets, among other items.
